York and Yorkshire

Founded by the Romans, this ancient walled city has also seen Anglo-Saxons and Vikings claim it as part of their empire. The Minster in York is the largest gothic cathedral in northern Europe, towering over the narrow historic streets of this charming city. Only in York are the streets called gates, the gates called bars, and the bars called pubs!

York sits in the center of some of Britain's most beautiful and historic countryside. The Yorkshire Moors, Yorkshire Dales, and the spectacular seaside are all uniquely breathtaking.
